Man Utd V Fulham: Scoreline Tip

We have no reason to think Manchester United will slip up on Monday night; the champions have been on imperious form claiming 25 points from a possible 27 since last losing in the league way back on 4 January. Their visitors Fulham have mustered just eight away goals all season, so they are unlikely opponents to stop the charge.

Our usual problem is finding some value when backing the Red Devils to grab another three points is nothing longer than 1/4 with Boylesports. Determining the nature of the game is our best hope. The best estimate is that United will win, with a clean sheet, but that Fulham are good enough to avoid embarrassment.

Admittedly, that was not the case earlier in the season when the Cottagers were thumped 5-0 on their own patch, but Martin Jol has overseen a gradual improvement over the subsequent months. Indeed, the move up to mid-table and away from any relegation concerns effectively began the match after the United home defeat, with a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge.

But most of Fulham’s best results have come at home and they still rarely look capable of much more than damage limitation on their travels. That approach won’t cause Sir Alex Ferguson any anxiety; he’ll always settle for comfortable victories rather than going for the jugular. This is particularly the case now that City have dropped points again, handing United the upperhand.

Alll this leaves us looking at a routine home win that it more likely to be professional than exhilarating. I could easily see United getting a couple of goals to the good before both teams effectively just play out the time.
