Liverpool v Everton: Scoreline Tip

Cahill: Has scored 3 times at Anfield

Everything points to a draw, and a low-scoring one at that.

In theory, a good match for a scoreline prediction because neither side scores prolifically but both can keep it pretty tight at the back. Therefore a goal-fest must be unlikely. At a best price of 13/2 (WilliamHill), the 1-1 draw looks pretty likely.

First of all we have a Liverpool side who have drawn 8 of their 13 Premier League games at Anfield; five of those ended 1-1. It has also finished a goal apiece in Everton’s last three away matches. Under David Moyes, the Toffees have drawn 5 of their 9 trips to the home of the Reds - a decent record, although the Scot is yet to claim three derby points on enemy soil.

The Blues are certainly the form team coming into the fixture this time round. Unbeaten in nine games in all competitions, there have been wins over Chelsea, Man City and Spurs in that run. But it’s worth bearing in mind that all the best results have come at Goodison Park.

Despite their Carling Cup success, Dalglish’s boys have lost three league games on the spin; that’s their worst run since 2003. But with Steven Gerrard due back in the starting line-up, this should be the ideal fixture to stop the rot. But that may simply involve sharing the spoils and ending the run of defeats.
