First Leg Run Around

A high scoring draw is on the cards between evenly matched sides that take plenty of shots and score heaps of goals.

Liverpool and Chelsea meet in the first leg of the Capital One Cup semi-final this evening and it looks a fiendishly difficult puzzle to solve.

Liverpool are on a good run of form, they are unbeaten in their last eight matches across all competitions meanwhile Chelsea aren’t doing too shabbily themselves, sat atop of the league.

In these kinds of matches we need to find any sort of angle and thankfully Paddy Power have thrown us a bone with money back as a free bet if Liverpool win.

That takes out one side of the equation and with Chelsea vulnerable away from home (one win in last five away league matches) we can hone in on the draw.

With Paddy Power refunding losing correct scores if Liverpool win, we are realistically left with three options 0-0, 1-1, 2-2 and it’s the latter that appeals.

Liverpool have scored at least two goals in 5/11 league matches this season; Chelsea have scored at least 2 in 7/12 away games.

Both sides rank second in ‘shots per game’ at home and away respectively, so we should expect goals this evening.

With a home win as insurance, backing a 2-2 scoreline at 13/1 (Paddy Power) looks the play.
