Arsenal And The League Cup: A Tale of Indifference

The Gunners really don't care about this competition and they have routinely failed against Premier League sides in recent years.

The League Cup is the one domestic trophy still to allude Arsene Wenger and this demonstrates how low a priority it has always been to the Frenchman.

Tellingly, Arsenal have lost their last 4 games at home to fellow Premier League sides in this competition. West Ham are a best price 11/2 (Bet365) to continue that sequence in 90 minutes.

We shouldn’t doubt the Hammers’ motivation after they beat Spurs 3-2 at Wembley in the last round having been 2-0 down. They also beat Chelsea in the top flight recently so you can be sure they’ll be eyeing a wonderful London derby hat-trick.

David Moyes looks set to do less rotation than his counterpart, partly because he has fewer options, but also because in his own words: ‘nothing would give me more pleasure than reaching a cup final.’
