One of Spain's big three should win on Wednesday but they come at a more attractive price than Real and Barca typically do.
A price of 7/4 on Atletico Madrid winning tonight may be the best price you get for any of the top teams winning in the round of 16. Make no mistake, last year’s finalists are still very much one of the top teams.
The reigning La Liga champions demonstrated their enduring class by thrashing arch rivals Real 4-0 as recently as 7th February. They also knocked Ronaldo and co out of the Copa del Rey over two legs in January.
Atletico were always in control of Group A last Autumn despite losing their first fixture. After that, they won four and drew one, conceding just one further goal in the process. Diego Simeone’s boys have lost just one of their last nine away outings in the Champions League.
They face a Leverkusen side who have endured a disquieting February in the Bundesliga. They have won just one of their last six domestically and the defence has leaked seven in the most recent two outings.
A first leg lead for the Spaniards which won’t be retrieved looks very much on the cards here.
