Juventus v Real Madrid Tip

The Italians have had 65 shots in 3 matches and somehow not won any of them. They are due a change in fortune.

Juventus may be currently languishing in third place in Group B but I would back them to take advantage of even a whiff of Real Madrid complacency on Tuesday evening. The Serie A champions are a best price 6/4 (Boylesports) to win in their own backyard.

When these sides met at the Bernabeu on 23 October it was the Spaniards who ran out 2-1 winners but that hardly tells the whole story. Juventus played most of the second half with 10 men and still nearly claimed a precious point. They matched their illustrious hosts, despite the numerical disadvantage.

Antonio Conte’s team had 13 shots on goal that night, the same as Madrid, and in total only Bayern (48) have had more attempts on target in the group stages than Juventus (33). ‘The Old Lady’ has even had more shots off target (32) than anybody else in the competition. To have 65 attempts and only score four times is staggering, and surely a ratio that has to improve soon.

In short, the Italians are much better than their results suggest while Madrid will travel safe in the knowledge that they have almost qualified for the knockout phase already. That mindset could prove problematic for Real boss Carlo Ancelotti.
