Minnows Can Minimize The Pain
San Marino could keep the score down to a respectable level if their recent home improvements are anything to go by.
As usual, counting the goals looks like the most intriguing way to land some money at a half decent price when San Marino are playing.
Ladbrokes offer a best price 7/4 on under 4.5 goals in the match and ‘a mere’ 4-0 win for England doesn’t look that unlikely considering the experimental line-up Hodgson is going with. Jamie Vardy and Jonjo Shelvey are set to be two fringe players given a chance from the off.
Just as relevantly, San Marino haven’t been too leaky at home so far in these Euro qualifiers. The minnows lost 2-0 to Lithuania, 4-0 to Switzerland before the real highlight - a 0-0 draw with Estonia. That was the first time they hadn’t lost a match in 10 years. A clean sheet no less!
It’s all relative, but acknowledging the hosts’ small recent improvement, particularly on their own patch, could earn us a profit on Saturday.
