Albania On Verge of Euro Qualification

If Portugal beat Denmark then Albania can seal a top two finish with three points here.

The feistiest match of the week is likely to take place in Group I where Albania and Serbia meet again after the reverse fixture was abandoned after a drone incident and fighting between players, fans and team officials. Don’t ask.

The important thing from a footballing point of view is that Albania were ultimately awarded a 3-0 victory and they are now assured of at least a place in the play-offs. But if they win on Thursday night, automatic qualification is a distinct possibility.

The headlines should be about how much the perennial minnows have emerged as a decent outfit during this campaign. They began with a famous victory in Portugal before drawing 1-1 with Denmark - a game they led with 9 minutes to go.

Albania also drew in Copenhagen last month and beat France in a June friendly. They should never be as long as 15/8 with Betfred to win this fixture at home.

Serbia are in total disarray. Bottom of the group and with only one home win against Armenia to show for their efforts.
