Gung-ho Gunners Won't Repeat History

Bayern were guilty of complacency last year but they'll get the job done more convincingly this time.

With Bayern nothing longer than 1/3 to win the second leg but Arsene Wenger determined to ‘go for it,’ we should improve our odds by taking the home win but with both teams to score at best odds of 15/8 with StanJames.

The more optimistic Gunners fans are clinging to the memory of last season’s 2-0 away win at the Allianz Arena but nobody will convince me that wasn’t down to complacency in the home camp. Pep Guardiola will ensure they won’t make the same mistake again.

A gung-ho approach from Wenger is likely to make things entertaining and Arsenal are well capable of finding the net having knocked in four in two of their last three games. Olivier Giroud scored a brace in both of those fixtures and his return to goalscoring form offers hope.

But the runaway Bundesliga leaders are European champions for a reason. They won 6-1 at the weekend, their 16th league victory on the bounce, and they are too strong for a team that travels without the suspended Szczesny, as well as Wilshere, Ramsey and Walcott.
