France v Romania: Total Goals Tip
9 out of 10 Romania qualifiers saw 2 goals or fewer. Throw in host nerves and that trend should continue.
Opening matches tend to be nervy occasions for hosts, and the tension can become difficult to handle when expectations are high. That’s the situation which France find themselves in, lining up as they do as tournament favourites.
Romania are able to boast the best defensive record from across the continent in qualifying, conceding just two times in 10 fixtures. The flip-side is they only scored 11 goals - that’s a third of what Poland mustered for example.
Not surprisingly this combination led to nine out of 10 Romania qualifying matches witnessing under 2.5 goals. The only exception was the final outing - a 3-0 success in the Faroe Islands.
The contrast between Friday and that trip could hardly be starker. We should expect things to start tight and if they do then 5/6 (Betfair Sportsbook) on under 2.5 goals in the match will be a steal.
