Flagging City

City go from an exhausting night in Catalonia to the first top flight match of the weekend with very little recovery time.

We should expect to hear some complaining about the fixture list from Manuel Pellegrini over the next 48 hours.

After spending most of Wednesday night chasing shadows in the Nou Camp, Manchester City are back in Premier League action at 12.45 on Saturday. It’s hard to believe they won’t be a little lacklustre.

At first glance West Brom look pretty enormous at 11/1 (BetVictor) to win at the Etihad but then you remember how Tony Pulis is yet to discover the magic formula for away games. They haven’t beaten a top flight team on the road, in any competition, since 1 November, and that was 1-0 against Leicester.

The main problem is they don’t score enough but they might thwart the champions down the other end all the same. Sergio Aguero’s confidence won’t be helped by missing a penalty against Barcelona and under 2.5 goals in the match looks tempting at best odds of 11/8 (BetVictor).
