Fifth Time's The Charm?

Remarkably, Man City have lost this fixture at the Stadium of Light four years in a row, always by a 1-0 scoreline.

The talk on Sunday night was all about one thing. City had beaten Southampton 3-0, they were back on track and the natural order of things had been restored. No wonder then that the champions are just 8/15 to win at the Stadium of Light. But then again, football isn’t quite that predictable.

Let’s look instead at the way Sunderland battled their way to a 0-0 draw against Chelsea on Saturday, a match they could easily have ended up winning. Remarkably, the Black Cats have beaten City on their own patch four seasons in a row, all by a 1-0 scoreline. They are 6/1 (Bet365) to take the three points again and it must be a value bet worth taking.

In October, Pellegrini’s boys hammered Spurs 4-1 for a third league win on the spin and everything looked rosy. A few days later they blew a 2-0 lead to CSKA Moscow before slipping up at West Ham. Things can change very quickly, and there are plenty of ingredients for an upset here, yet again.
