Trotters In Trouble

If you exclude one extra time period against Chelsea, Liverpool have kept five clean sheets in their last six outings.

Much has been made of Liverpool’s return to form over the last couple of months and inevitably the likes of Raheem Sterling and most recently Daniel Sturridge have grabbed the headlines.

However, arguably the biggest factor in the Reds’ revival has been a new-found defensive solidity. Taking all matches as 90 minutes (Ivanovic scored in extra-time for Chelsea in the League Cup), the Merseysiders have only conceded one goal in their last six fixtures in all competitions.

Liverpool are a best price 33/20 (Coral) to win their replay at Bolton to nil as well and that looks like a fair bet. Neil Lennon’s options have been decimated with first match hero Adam Bogdan unable to take his place between the sticks for starters.

The Trotters will also be without key midfielder Darren Pratley and possibly fellow-joint top scorer Craig Davies. Lennon can’t even call on seven of his new signings who are all ineligible.

Expect the Red Machine to keep on producing.
