Hull’s league fortunes have been revitalised by the January arrivals of Shane Long and Nikica Jelavic, but the duo are both cup-tied for this quarter-final. In the absence of those two, it’s worth taking a speculative punt on a long shot. And it’s quite possible that a long shot might win us this particular bet.
Based on figures compiled by whoscored.com, Tom Huddlestone averages more shots per game (1.8) than anybody else who will be on the pitch at the KC Stadium. The England hopeful’s 49 shots in 2013-14 have so far yielded only two goals, but the most recent came only a fortnight ago at Cardiff.
The former Spurs man is a massive 21/1 in the first goalscorer market with BetVictor. In a game that may offer up few clear-cut chances, one of the more cultured performers could just break the deadlock and make Steve Bruce’s day and ours.
