16th Feb 2018 | FA Cup

The Case Of The Ex

There's a sense that Swansea are about to cool off while Wednesday went up a gear on Tuesday, beating promotion-chasing Derby.

It’s the ‘Carlos Carvalhal derby’ on Saturday and I have a feeling that Swansea’s remarkable run is about to come to an end, at least in the FA Cup.

The Portuguese has worked wonders since being sacked by Wednesday and picked up by the Premier league side a few days later - but it doesn’t look sustainable.

The Swans were fortunate to escape Leicester with a 1-1 draw last weekend, scoring with their only shot on target. In contrast, Wednesday produced their best performance under Jos Luhukay in midweek, running out 2-0 winners over high-flying Derby.

The Owls could win this one 1-0 at best odds of 17/2 with BetFair. They have only lost 1 of their last 9 in all competitions, keeping 6 clean sheets in that time. They defend better than they attack.

The battle against the former boss will be an extra motivator and having moved clear of the relegation scrap they can afford to go for that place in the quarter-finals.
