19th May 2018 | FA Cup

Serial Trophy Winner Jose Can Claim Another

Mourinho is accused of negative tactics but his team have found an extra gear against the top English sides in recent months. Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs were all beaten 2-1 recently.

I keep hearing that this FA Cup final is a chance for both sides to save mediocre seasons but how is it fair to chuck the clubs into the same dismal bucket?

Whether you love or loathe Mourinho and his methods, he improved Manchester United’s Premier League results considerably in 2017-18 reaching 81 points - a total that would challenge for the title in many seasons.

Being the best of the rest when City have broken all records is no mean feat and considerably better than Chelsea’s tame defence of their title which saw them finish 5th and crash out of Champions League qualification.

United also have a very good record against the other best sides, particularly in this calendar year. They have beaten all the other members of the top six in league or cup in the last 3 months.

It’s within this context that I can’t understand how some bookies have made the Reds underdogs here. They beat the Blues 2-1 in late February and Bet365 go a best price 10/1 on it happening again in this showpiece occasion.

*Price update: Skybet have an enhanced 11/1 on 2-1 to Man Utd
