FA Cup Outright Tip 2020

The Saints are a huge price but if they can maintain their current form at all then relegation fears will completely ease and nobody will relish them coming out of the hat.

Picking an FA Cup winner is always a fun activity on 3rd Round weekend and as always most bookies will pay out each-way at half odds if your pick loses in the final. This opens up some interesting options because we can see that unfancied sides often make the showpiece occasion.

In the last decade we have seen the following teams reach the FA Cup Final: Portsmouth, Stoke, Wigan, Hull, Villa, Palace and Watford - all would have been seen as long shots in the the January.

So who could be this year’s surprise package? Sheffield Utd and Palace are worth consideration at 50/1, but at 66/1 Brighton and Southampton really catch the eye. We’ll pick the latter, with Skybet, because they have surged up the table on a recent run of fine form which suggests they are going places.

Hassenhuttl looks a fine manager and the response he has got out of slow starters two years in a row is really impressive. The Saints should pull clear of a relegation scrap now which would allow them to take the cup seriously.

Any outsider needs a kind draw and first up should be fine - at home to Huddersfield. Who knows after that but a regular goalscorer like Danny Ings could prove the difference if the south-coasters gather some momentum and a taste for Wembley.
