FA Cup Outright Tip: Spurs

Spurs are in the wrong price bracket. The bookies have them alongside Everton instead of the elite where they deserve to be.

The FA Cup outright market has thrown up few surprises but one piece of clear value stands out if we look at the big six contenders:

Man City 13/2 (PaddyPower)
Arsenal 7/1 (Betfred)
Chelsea 7/1 (Bet365)
Man Utd 8/1 (Ladbrokes)
Liverpool 12/1 (BetVictor)
Spurs (16/1 Betfred)

Right there at the bottom it’s impossible not to wonder why Tottenham are considered twice the price of most of their esteemed rivals.

Mauricio Pochettino has an upwardly mobile side who have only lost once in their last 19 league matches dating back to the opening day of the season. They are ahead of Man Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea in the table and only six points off the top.

They are touted as title outsiders but more realistically they will fall just short and are more likely contenders for a cup.

The argument that they are competing on too many fronts is nonsense given that all the top sides have other distractions - it goes with the territory.

A third round tie with Leicester looked more daunting when the draw was made than it does now and the Londoners should progress with home advantage. There’s no reason why Spurs can’t go all the way at a great price.
