6th Nov 2014 | Europa League
Lille To Nil At Goodison
The French side have drawn every match in Group H so far and would probably take another 0-0 if offered one.
Some English teams clearly resent even having to participate in the Europa League and hate the strain it puts on their domestic ambitions. However, one club who really seem to be loving their Thursday night action is Everton, and this will serve them well.
About 10,000 Toffees fans headed to Lille for the 0-0 draw a fortnight ago despite the club only receiving a ticket allocation of 5,200. This level of enthusiasm seems to mirror that in the dressing room with both Leighton Baines and the boss Roberto Martinez recently extolling the virtues of the competition.
Martinez now has enough quality in his squad to make a few changes here and there without it constituting a weakened line-up. The Blues beat a decent looking Wolfsburg side 4-1 at Goodison before picking up two useful away draws.
Lille have drawn all three of their Europa matches and will come to Merseyside probably happy to take another one with the group still all bunched up. However, the hosts will be a tough proposition in front of their own fans.
