Arsenal need victory for Champions League football and they may have the happier camp as well as the greater need. Their manager was a serial winner of this trophy with Sevilla between 2014-16 and that could provide an edge.
The bookies have made up their minds that Chelsea are strong favourites for Europa League glory on Wednesday night but I see compelling reasons to back Arsenal to pick up the trophy, with a win in 90 minutes, at best odds of 13/5 with Bet365.
There was next to nothing between the sides in the Premier League, separated by just 2 points in the Blues’ favour - and that gap was 6pts after just two matches!
All is not well in the Chelsea camp with Sarri rumoured to be leaving for Juventus and seen storming out of training yesterday. Higuain and Luis also bickered while who knows where Hazard’s head is. Loftus-Cheek and Hudson-Odoi are ruled out with Kante rated as just a 50/50 prospect.
Arsenal have their own selection headaches admittedly, but Aubameyang and Lacazette are big game strikers poised to deliver. Gunners’ boss Emery has won this trophy three times with Sevilla while Sarri has a bare trophy cabinet. That could be telling experience in Baku.
