Basel Could Brush Aside German Also-Rans
The Swiss enjoyed runs to the semi-finals and the quarter-finals of this competition not so long ago and could replicate those feats in 2020.
The Europa League is disrupted and lacking in glamour, but our money doesn’t care about such matters. The bookies tend to side with certain nations, and in this case that wrongly leads Basel to be as long as 9/2 with BetVictor to win in Germany today.
Eintracht Frankfurt aren’t exactly Bundesliga royalty. Sat 12th in the table, having lost their last three in that competition, they won’t be fancying this last 16 clash off the back of a 4-0 hammering to Leverkusen at the weekend.
Basel are a top-3 side in the admittedly weaker Swiss league, but I’d point to their credentials in Europe. Before Christmas they beat Getafe home and away in this tournament - a side currently sat 5th in La Liga, above Atletico Madrid. They are plenty capable of getting a result here.
