Under 2.5 Goals Double Tip

Any thoughts of the knockout phase heralding an era of more goals in Euro 2016 were quickly banished by Saturday’s results - 1-1, 1-0 and 0-0 after 90 minutes respectively.

We’ve already discussed the likelihood of France v Republic of Ireland being tight in the first half and it’s hard to imagine it ever opening up into a free-flowing encounter.

Indeed, it’s looks smart to back under 2.5 goals in that clash along with Germany v Slovakia at best double odds of a shade under 6/4 with Skybet.

The underdogs are generally still competent defenders in this tournament as demonstrated by Slovakia defying 29 England attempts on goal to draw 0-0 and progress. Having been successful with that tactic last time, they will surely go for more of the same against Germany.

Even if the world champions do make the breakthrough, there is little to suggest they will push hard for lots more goals. Besides which, having drawn 0-0 with Poland and only beaten N Ireland 1-0, their forwards are somewhat misfiring at the moment.
