Azzurri Ready To Oust Champions

The tie of the round could see Italy move from dark horses to favourites overnight.

On paper the game of Euro 2016 so far is on Monday and we’re definitely not talking about England v Iceland!

Footballing superpowers Spain and Italy clash at the Stade De France and the bookies expect it to be incredibly cagey with nothing longer than 6/5 on it standing 0-0 at half-time.

With that in mind there appears to be real value in backing ‘Draw/Italy’ at best odds of 15/2 in the HT/FT market.

We have been fans of the Azzurri from pre-tournament and there has been little so far to shake our conviction.

The Ireland result is essentially irrelevant and they beat Belgium and Sweden to make that the case without conceding a goal.

Meanwhile Spain’s short odds seem to owe everything to what they did in 2008 and 2012 as well as a good performance against Turkey here.

But the champions laboured to a late 1-0 victory over the Czechs and then lost to Croatia so it remains to be seen whether they can really justify the hype.
