Spain v France: Anytime Goalscorer Tip

Iniesta: 10 shots on target already.

Proving to be the jewel in Spain's crown. Has had more shots on target than any of his team-mates so far and is overdue a goal of his own.

My only grumble with Andres Iniesta, splendid player that he is, is that he can be too unselfish for his own good. Or rather too unselfish for my good, because he can be a nightmare to back as a goalscorer because he can’t stop playing his team-mates in when in front of goal himself!

He did exactly that against Croatia in his last match to settle the final Group C tie 1-0 in the champions’ favour. But the Barcelona playmaker is on such dazzling form that we can still expect him to claim assists and goals. The thing that gives me most encouragement is that he’s had 10 shots on target already in Euro 2012. That’s nearly twice as many as the next best for Spain (David Silva 6).

The 28-year-old has already won UEFA man-of-the-match awards for two of the three games he’s played and I think he will finally find the net himself against a France side who look to be on a downward spiral. At best odds of 4/1 (PaddyPower) to score anytime in 90 minutes, he looks a great price.
