Having tipped Ireland to claim a priceless victory, a follow-up scoreline wager looks like a no-brainer. With 11 clean sheets in 14 unbeaten matches, it’s not hard to see what Trapattoni has brought to the set-up.
To say Ireland now play with a counter-attacking, Italian mentality would be a monumental understatement. They simply rely on the handful of flair players in the team - Robbie Keane, Damien Duff and Aiden McGeady - to provide the odd moment of inspiration.
Expect it to be 0-0 for a long time or, if the Irish get their noses in front, to cling on for dear life with every man behind the ball. The good news is, that in the latter scenario, Croatia may not have the guile to break them down.
Ireland to win 1-0 at best odds of 15/2 (Betfred) looks like a bargain when, frankly, most of the higher scorelines can virtually be ruled out in this Group C clash.
