Netherlands v Denmark: Anytime Goalscorer Tip

Netherlands start their campaign.

The prolific Gunner is almost certain to start on his own up front and has scored 3 in 3 for the Oranje.

Netherlands were top scorers in qualifying with 37 goals in 10 outings and they will take some stopping as an attacking force in the finals.

The problem, from a betting perspective, is anticipating who will score the Dutch goals. In the final two warm-up matches there were six different goalscorers for Oranje. With so much quality running through the team, it makes me reluctant to go with a first goalscorer bet. There are just too many strong candidates.

It may be a more conservative approach, but the smart option before a ball is kicked in anger must be to focus on the anytime market. At best odds of 11/10 (Bet365), Robin Van Persie is surely a strong option against Denmark.

The Arsenal star looks like he has finally won the battle with Klass-Jan Huntelaar to start as Bert van Marwijk’s main striker. The experiment of playing them together appeared to fail when Netherlands lost to Bulgaria on May 26. After that the coach reverted to playing Van Persie on his own with Huntelaar on the bench. It worked. Slovakia were beaten 2-0 before Northern Ireland were hammered 6-0.

After top scoring in the Premier League in 2011-12, RVP has now carried over his form internationally by finding the net three times in his last three. At better than evens money, he looks good value to keep the run going against the Danes.
