Draws At The Double

Burnley and Villa are desperate for points and Saturday is an opportunity for both to pick up one more apiece.

As always there’s value to be had simply by picking where the weekend draws will come. These two Premier League crunch clashes could easily both end level at best odds of 11/1 with Sportingbet.

Burnley v Swansea (Draw 12/5):

The stats suggest Burnley are doomed but the Clarets can take great belief from recent performances at Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge, the latter producing a prized 1-1 scoreline last weekend.

The Lancashire club have taken 14 points at Turf Moor in 2014-15 while Swansea have claimed 12 on their travels which again suggests this will be close.

Garry Monk has established his boys in the top half largely by avoiding defeat against the bottom half of the table (W6 D6 L1). Last week saw a massive victory over Man Utd but you wonder if they can find the same levels in a match which matters less for the Welsh club.

Newcastle v Aston Villa (Draw 5/2):

Put simply, neither of these sides looks good enough to win after last week’s action. Newcastle are the favourites with home advantage and many more points on the board but John Carver’s so-called honeymoon period was obliterated by a 5-0 hammering at Man City.

Then there’s Villa. Six straight defeats and eleven without a win after an agonising last-minute defeat to Stoke last time out. But often playing away from nervous fans is the best thing for sides in Villa’s predicament and Tim Sherwood won’t see this massive club go down without a fight.

Scott Sinclair has at least scored two in two and surely Christian Benteke has some magic left somewhere in those once predatory boots?
