Chelsea Off To A Flyer

Against weaker opposition the Blues have a tendency to get the job done early and then ease off.

Monday night saw Chelsea look the part as title favourites with Diego Costa immediately marking his arrival with a debut goal. The only slight blot on the Blues’ copybook was that they conceded an early goal to Burnley. Knowing Mourinho, he will be hungry for a clean sheet today.

With this in mind it becomes tempting to take the 39/40 (BetVictor) available on Chelsea winning to nil, but there may be a better bet out there. At best odds of 21/10 (Sportingbet), I actually really like the look of the first half being the highest scoring half in the match.

This may sound like a bit of a novelty market but actually there is method to this selection. The bookies always assume the second half will see more goals (11/10 BetVictor), but that may go against classic Mourinho methodology.

At Turf Moor all four goals were scored in the first period as the Londoners eased off after the break. It could be a similar story against Leicester City who are likely to be behind by half-time.

If that is the case expect the hosts to shut up shop. Get the job done and keep a clean sheet will be the likely order of the day, and if so the second half could be low-key again.
