Under 2.5 Goals Acca

As we reach crunch time there's more and more riding on a greater number of matches. This tension seems unlikely to result in goal gluts in the following games.

On Saturday there are a number of games in the top two divisions which could be quite tight. We’re backing under 2.5 goals in all of the following at best combined odds of 8.37/1 with BetFair.

Brighton v Swansea:

A crucial game in the Premier League relegation battle takes place at the Amex Stadium and it surprisingly features two top-10 defences. Only 30% of Brighton’s games have seen over 2.5 goals and 37% of Swansea’s matches. Both sides are on decent form and could cancel each other out here.

West Brom v Huddersfield:

If the above game is crucial I’m not sure what you can say about this one - it’s massive! The Baggies simply have to win and they must take heart from the fact Huddersfield have failed to score in 10 of their 13 away outings. But the Baggies haven’t ever scored more than 2 at home all season and this one could be a nail-biter.

Burnley v Southampton:

You couldn’t have an under 2.5 goals acca without Burnley! The Clarets are still riding high thanks to the joint 4th best defence but their poor form is down to the joint-second worst attack. Just 22% of their league games have produced 3 goals or more. Southampton aren’t dynamic enough to buck that trend and know that every point counts now.

Norwich v Bolton:

Into the Championship where Norwich have probably left it too late for a play-off push due to a general lack of goals. They host a Bolton side who are fighting for their lives and slowly improving at the back. Consequently, and amazingly, none of their last 12 league games have produced over 2.5 goals.

Sheffield Wednesday v Aston Villa:

The full 2017-18 stats tell you that 45% of Wednesday games have produced over 2.5 goals but that says nothing of the recent trend. Just 3 of the last 11 fixtures across all competitions have seen 3+ goals with a mighty dull five 0-0s in that run. Villa’s promotion bid is temporarily on the skids but more importantly for us 4 of their last 5 have seen under 2.5 goals in the match.
