5th May 2019 | Championship

Championship Acca

It's Lampard versus Pulis in the play-off race on the final day of the Championship. The young manager has the vital extra point to play with and the Rams will claim the prize if both sides win, which they should.

It’s the final day in the Championship and the play-off shake-up is the final serious matter up for grabs. Derby and Boro sit 6th and 7th respectively, and we can back both of them to win, along with Villa against a partying Norwich at best combined odds of 8.52/1 with BetFred.

Middlesbrough (8/11) to win at Rotherham:

This one really should be an away banker with Rotherham fulfilling fixture obligations having already been relegated after 3 straight defeats. Pulis would have dreamt of this scenario after 4 wins in 5 for Boro, but they have to do their part and them wait on the result at Pride Park.

Derby (10/11) to win at home to West Brom:

The good news for Boro fans is that Derby certainly have a much trickier match against a side sat 4th in the table after some decent form. The bonus for the Rams though is that West Brom are assured of the playoffs and it’s hard to see them finishing anywhere but 4th. Derby have all the motivation here and with home advantage and fate in their own hands, Lampard’s boys can get the job done.

Villa (15/8) to win at home to Norwich:

The odds here assume that Norwich will perform at the same high level which has got them promoted, but there are two factors to consider. Firstly, the Canaries won’t have the same intensity levels, however much they want the title, and secondly, Villa are actually on better form. The side in 5th will want to maintain that momentum and a victory against the top team would bring real confidence for the play-offs.
