Sheffield Utd could go top of the table if Norwich fail to win at Bolton with Leeds not playing. West Brom are another side clinging to automatic promotion hopes as they head into a local derby with Villa.
We’re backing two of the Championship’s top-4 and the most on form side in the bottom-half of the table for Saturday’s acca. Sheffield Utd, West Brom and Preston to win are a best price 8.25/1 shot with BetVictor.
Sheffield Utd (8/15) v Reading :
The Blades’ 1-0 victory over Boro last time out was one of their most important results of the season. It followed a nightmare final 15 minutes against Aston Villa where they surrendered a 3-0 lead which would have taken them top. But Chris Wilder is doing a fantastic job and the best home record in the division can be extended here.
Aston Villa v West Brom (15/8):
The Baggies are marginal underdogs for this west-Midlands derby despite being 10pts better off in the table with automatic promotion hopes still in place. I’m banking on WBA’s late, undeserved equaliser in midweek kickstarting their form again instead of Villa finding only their 2nd win at home since November. West Brom are the division’s top scorers, Villa the 3rd most leaky.
Preston v Forest (11/10):
This is a pure form punt because odds-against looks pretty healthy for a home side who rank 2nd for Championship points accrued in 2019 (W4 D2 L1). Forest will be hurting from the late West Brom goal mentioned above which came close to killing their play-off hopes. That meant they still haven’t won consecutive league games since September; the Martin O’Neill magic may need to wait till next season.
