When in Rome, Liverpool Still Score

Barcelona blew it because they failed to grab an away goal. The Merseysiders are never likely to suffer the same fate.

Roma gave themselves a lifeline, somehow, in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final but lightning won’t strike twice. The 3-0 victory which knocked out Barcelona was the sort of thing which happens once in a generation for a club, not twice in a month.

That said, the Italians’ home record in the Champions League is excellent - 4 wins in a row, also including a 3-0 victory over Chelsea, and 0 goals conceded all season.

But it would take a brave punter to back Liverpool to draw a blank anywhere. The Reds have scored 38 goals in the competition and one of Salah, Firmino and Mane will surely show up and end the hosts’ interest in the tie.
