Stadium Lift off

I'm surprised nobody is giving Tottenham a chance, even in the first leg given all the factors in their favour: a rested, fit squad, no pressure, and a deluxe new home to turn into a fortress.

A few times lately I’ve talked about the uber-shortening of Manchester City odds and either taken them on with an opposing goalscorer, or as a handicap bet. But tonight, we go the full hog - backing them to lose. Tottenham are great value at best odds of 10/3 with BetFair to win the first leg of this Champions League quarter-final at their brand spanking new stadium.

The eulogies about Pep’s side are understandable, but they certainly aren’t invincible. City have lost 4 times in the Premier League this season - to Chelsea, Palace, Leicester and Newcastle.

Spurs are better than all those sides and crucially have all their best players fit and raring to go, and surprisingly well-rested after playing just two matches in the last month. City have had 5 big matches in that same time.

The Blues will be acutely aware that they lost, heavily, to an English club at this stage last season and have never got to the final of this competition. In contrast, the pressure is off Spurs who looked all but out back in the autumn.
