Euro Citizens Still Have Point To Prove

Man City may be all-conquering in England right now but they have looked good domestically before only to crumble in the Champions League.

There may be a huge divergence in the form of the two sides, but Manchester City have to be opposed at best odds of 4/5 to win this Champions League opener.

Juventus may have made a limp start to their Serie A defence (W0 D1 L2) but last season’s finalists will welcome a change in competition having gone four away games unbeaten (W2 D2) in Europe against Malmo, Dortmund, Monaco and Real Madrid.

In contrast, City only triumphed once in four European attempts at the Etihad in 2014-15 and they can’t be backed confidently until they prove they have overcome a psychological barrier at this level.

The hosts will also be missing their talisman Sergio Aguero.

They drew 1-1 at home to Roma last term while ‘the Old Lady’ claimed a 2-2 result on their last trip to England against Chelsea.

Everything points to another draw here being the most likely outcome, despite the 11/4 on offer with Betfred. For the two favorites in Group D it would represent a satisfactory start however much the home fans long for more.
