Champions League Betting: Spurs March On

Tottenham are 14/1 (from 16/1) to win the Champions League after a dogged defensive display against AC Milan. For all their attacking flair, it was the defence and the excellent Sandro in midfield that won the day for Spurs.

Joining Spurs in the next round are Schalke after a 3-1 win at home to Valencia. Mid-table in the German Bundesliga, they are developing into cup specialists this season. Finalists in the German Cup, Schalke have only lost once in 13 cup matches. That loss was way back in September against Lyon at the start of their Champions League campaign.

Despite their cup form, the bookmakers reckon Schalke are the team to draw in the next round and are 66/1 to win the Champions League with Victor Chandler.

With Chelsea and Manchester United playing next week, Spurs are still outsiders with William Hill at 11/4; to be the British team to progress furthest in the Champions League.
