Bayern Munich v Manchester City

Cast your mind back to what happened when Arsenal met Bayern last season and you realise the odds on the away win are too hefty here.

While there’s little or no doubt that Bayern Munich are the best team in Europe and on imperious form, the odds for this match are still wrong when you consider that there’s not much at stake.

The defending champions sit atop the group with 15 points from five matches and will stay there so long as they avoid a heavy defeat. Pep Guardiola can talk about the need to avoid complacency, but that doesn’t mean it won’t happen.

I imagine Jupp Heynckes said similar things to his team before last season’s round of 16 clash with Arsenal. On that occasion the Germans followed an emphatic 3-1 victory at the Emirates with a 2-0 loss in Bavaria when the job was all but done.

Manchester City have been full of goals domestically and in Europe, and are worth a value bet to win at best odds of 13/2 with WilliamHill.
