Arsenal v Schalke Tip

One of the sharpest strikers in European football heads to north London on Wednesday night.

After starting the season with three consecutive clean sheets, Arsenal have failed to deny the opposition in any of their last eight fixtures across all competitions. The defeat to Norwich at the weekend was a significant blow and while they slipped up at Carrow Road, Schalke were winning away to Bundesliga champions Dortmund.

I would expect Arsene Wenger to get a response from his players on Wednesday but that doesn’t mean they’ll neccessarily start keeping clean sheets again. One opposition player in particular promises to be a real handful - Klaas-Jan Huntelaar looks like a bargain at 2/1 (Ladbrokes) in the anytime goalscorer market.

The Dutch international scored a mighty 48 goals in 47 club appearances in 2011-12, including 14 in 12 European games. The 29-year-old has so far maintained that level into this season, finding the net in both Schalke’s Champions League fixtures so far. He will relish the big stage that the Emirates provides and should cause problems for a suspect defence.
