AC Milan v Zenit St Petersburg

The hosts will have the cigars out and a stalemate could suit both parties.

This is a good time to look at group permutations in the Champions League to offer up clues from a betting perspective. In Group C the the top two places are settled with AC Milan unable to finish anywhere but second heading into matchday six.

The only issue still outstanding concerns who will finish third to take up a spot in the Europa League. Tuesday’s visitors to the San Siro, Zenit St Petersburg, have the edge as they only need to match Anderlecht’s result away to group winners Malaga to progress. Crucially, if both teams draw, Zenit will stay in Europe. Against a care-free Rossoneri this seems a likely outcome at 12/5 with PaddyPower.

The reigning Russian Premier League champions can take heart from Milan’s mediocre home record in Europe in recent times. They have won just four of their last 17 continental clashes at the San Siro (W4 D8 L5) and were held there by both Malaga and Anderlecht already this campaign.
