India v England Test Series Preview
The first Test starts on Thursday with England 4/1 (Bet365) to win the four match series.
On Thursday, England will attempt to win their first Test series in India for over 25 years, a feat bigger than winning the last Ashes in Australia according to Michael Vaughan. The weight of history hasn’t affected England’s price with the bookmakers, with the tourists a best price 4/1 (Bet365) to win the series.
If England are to be successful they will need to score big 1st innings totals on dry subcontinent wickets, something they have struggled to do in the past.

Kevin Pietersen is joint favourite to be England’s leading run scorer but he will have to overcome his long-standing problem against spin. His record in the sub-continent is distinctly average for a player of his quality and the same applies to Ian Bell.
Alastair Cook and Jonathan Trott are most adept at grinding out scores, averaging over 70 runs per match in the subcontinent. Nick Compton looks like getting the nod at the top of the order and is 7/1 (BetVictor) to be England’s top scorer in the series.
