England 1/3 to win at Edgbaston
Only 140 runs behind with all their first innings wickets intact; England are 1/3 to win the third test.
India’s revered batting line up couldn’t cope with the swinging ball on day one of the third Test. Losing the toss and put into bat, the tourists were reeling at 111-7. A spirited fight back from MS Dhoni avoided humiliation but all out for 224 is at least 100 runs below par.
By the close of play England finished on 84-0 leaving the hosts just 140 runs behind with ten wickets in hand. India are 14/1 to win the test, but the shoulders seemed to have slumped after another day being dominated. England are 1/3 to win the third test, a feat that would guarantee the number one spot in the world.
